Google Messages to Limit Chat Pinning to Six Conversations
Google Messages, a leading messaging app for Android smartphones, offers features like RCS chat and spam alerts. Currently, users can pin up to 20 conversations for quick access, but a recent beta build indicates a significant change is on the horizon.
New Chat Pin Limit
The latest beta version of Google Messages restricts chat pinning to a maximum of six conversations. Attempting to pin more than this limit will trigger a message stating, “Limit reached. Unpin one to add more.” This adjustment aims to streamline the user experience and potentially reduce clutter within the app.

UI Update with Profile Circles
Alongside the limit reduction, Google is also redesigning the user interface for pinned chats. The upcoming update will introduce a prominent circular display at the top of the app, showcasing profile pictures of all pinned conversations. When a new message arrives from a pinned chat, the circle will transform into a square, previewing the incoming message. A number will also appear beneath the square, indicating the count of unread messages from that specific conversation.

Manual Reordering
Furthermore, users will gain the ability to manually rearrange the order of their pinned conversations, providing greater control over the chat list’s organization. This update reflects Google’s ongoing efforts to refine and improve the functionality of Google Messages.
