Apple iphone air 'dead' issue: wireless charging revives handsets

Apple's iPhone Air users are reporting a puzzling issue where their devices won't power on even when plugged into a charger after the battery drains to zero.

Multiple users on Reddit claim that leaving their iPhone Air units connected to a wall outlet for hours did nothing to revive them. Some even suggested trying a different charging cable, but with no success.

However, a wireless charging solution appears to be the fix. One user reported that plugging their iPhone Air into a MagSafe wireless charger for 15 minutes brought the device back to life, while another claimed Apple Store employees used the same method to revive a dead iPhone Air brought in for repair.

While it's unclear how prevalent this issue is, some users have noted that it started happening after updating to the latest iOS 26.4 or 26.5 beta. Strikingly, this problem isn't exclusive to the iPhone Air, with reports also emerging for other iPhone 17 and 16 series models.

As Apple hasn't yet confirmed a fix, the wireless charging workaround seems to be the best course of action for now. Simply place your iPhone Air on a MagSafe charger and let it charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting to turn it on.
