Apple's Lockdown Mode, introduced in 2022, has reportedly gone without a single successful spyware attack since its inception.

The company confirmed it has zero record of a successful mercenary spyware attack on any device running Lockdown Mode.

This feat is significant given the growing threat of sophisticated tools like Pegasus, used against human rights defenders, politicians, and journalists. Such attacks can silently take over an iPhone without user interaction.

Lockdown Mode's strict restrictions, which include disabling link previews, wired computer connections, and limiting web browsing and incoming calls, have proven effective in thwarting these 'zero-click' exploits.

This achievement gives Apple a real edge over Android, which lacks a comparable feature operating at the same level. While Lockdown Mode is designed for high-risk users, the success of this opt-in security feature opens questions about whether Apple's hardened approach could eventually benefit a broader audience.
