Google gemini now lets you import your entire ai chat history

Google just removed the single most annoying reason to stay with ChatGPT or Claude. Starting today, Gemini is rolling out a native import feature that lets users pull their full conversation history — context, preferences, everything — from any competing ai model and drop it directly into Google's app.

What the memory import actually does

The mechanic is straightforward but quietly clever. Inside the Gemini app's settings tab, a new import window generates a ready-made prompt. You copy it, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude or whatever you've been using, and that model spits out a compressed summary of your entire interaction history. Paste that back into Gemini. Done.
