Google gives pixel owners a rare second chance: pixel care+ enrollment reopens

Google is offering a rare do-over for Pixel owners who missed the initial 60-day window to enroll in Pixel Care+, its premium device protection plan. From July 13 to August 2, Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9a, and 10 series devices can still sign up for the extended warranty.

Pixel care+ 101: what's covered and how much it costs

Pixel Care+ provides two years of coverage against accidental damage, with monthly plans ranging from $8 to $15 or a one-time payment of $159 to $279. Screen and battery repairs remain free, while other damage carries a $99 service fee. Loss and Theft protection is an additional tier, capped at two claims per year with a deductible of $79 to $99.

Notably, this promotion excludes the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch, which must adhere to the usual 60-day enrollment window. Devices already enrolled in Pixel Care+, Preferred Care, or Google Fi's device protection plan do not qualify for this second chance.

Is it worth signing up now?

While some might argue that the plan is an upsell, the benefits can be substantial. A free screen replacement alone often outweighs the cost of the plan. For those who put off protection at purchase, this reopen window offers a second opportunity to secure cover against costly repairs.
