Google photos finally adds playback speed option

Google Photos, one of Google's most popular apps, has finally added a long-awaited feature: the ability to adjust video playback speed.

Top-requested feature now available

For months, users have been clamoring for this capability, with over 200 upvotes on a Google forum post requesting the feature. Now, Google has delivered.

To use the playback speed option, simply open the Google Photos app, play the video you want to adjust, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, and select 'Playback speed' from the menu. Choose from options including 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, and 2x to speed up or slow down your video viewing experience.

However, it's worth noting that the playback speed will revert to the default setting of 1x the next time you watch the video.

In addition to the playback speed feature, Google has also rolled out a new AI Enhance button in Google Photos. This feature allows users to 'elevate' their images with a single tap, balancing light and color instantly.

Google claims that the output of this feature will vary by device, but examples suggest it can sharpen dull photos. The AI Enhance button is available to all Android users worldwide, though some users may not have seen it yet.
