Google's ai fitness coach rolls out globally

Google has begun expanding its AI-powered fitness coach, initially tested in the US, to 37 countries worldwide, marking a significant step in the tech giant's push into the digital health space.

The innovative coach, fueled by Gemini AI capabilities, was first unveiled in August 2024 and designed to provide users with tailored guidance on their overall health and wellbeing. By leveraging data from Pixel smartwatches and the Fitbit app, the coach creates customized fitness and sleep plans adapted to each individual's unique profile.

Users can initiate a conversation with the AI assistant, lasting between five to ten minutes, to help the coach understand their motivations and goals. Once a personalized plan is established, users can set targets, track progress, and even modify routines on the fly, with the coach offering real-time advice and recommendations.

Further enhancements have been made, with the integration of VO2 max measurements, previously known as cardiovascular aptitude scores, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of users' heart health and its potential impact on sleep quality.

The expanded public preview is now available in 32 languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin, among others. The service is accessible to both Premium and free Fitbit subscribers, via the redesigned iOS and Android app.
