Reports have surfaced suggesting Apple is exploring at least four new color options for the upcoming flagship. These include Dark Cherry, Sky Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver – all initially showcased in renders based on supply chain whispers from Macworld. Subsequent corroboration came from what appeared to be rear camera plateau glass covers, leaked by an independent source.
A questionable component – is this a fake-out?
A recent image circulating on X, attributed to a user going by “Majin” (a reference to the infamous leaker Majin Bu), purportedly shows components for the iPhone 18 Pro. However, 9to5Mac reports these components don’t actually exist within Apple’s current Pro design, which relied on a unibody chassis with a MagSafe cutout and camera plateau. The iPhone 18 Pro is reportedly sticking with this established form factor.
Protectors, not paint: the real story
It’s increasingly clear that the image showcasing the Dark Cherry color is likely depicting external protectors – produced by a third-party manufacturer – designed to match the rumored color scheme. The hero color, potentially a shade of red, has already been highlighted by Macworld, but the leaked image drastically deviates from the initial renders. Frankly, the current visual is underwhelming; a Dark Cherry that doesn’t quite capture the vibrancy we’d anticipate.

The disappearance of the “Majin” account adds another layer of skepticism. This leak, like so many others, should be treated with considerable caution. While it offers a tantalizing glimpse into Apple’s potential designs, the discrepancies between the image and previous renderings strongly suggest a deliberate deception.
