Inside the Pentagon they still call space a commons. Out in the Gulf, commons just means territory no one has jammed yet. The scent of ionized air over the deck of a destroyer smells the same as it did in 1991—only now the satellites above are selling different truths to different customers, and the first casualty of war is no longer truth; it’s timing.
