Lame deal collapses: investors block rich sparkle shares amidst mounting doubts

The highly anticipated investment deal surrounding TikTok sensation Khaby Lame has spectacularly unraveled, with major stock exchanges abruptly restricting or outright blocking trading of Rich Sparkle Holdings shares – the company at the heart of the venture.

A billion-dollar gamble turns sour

Lame, boasting over 160 million followers on TikTok, initially announced in January a landmark agreement promising a substantial windfall and opening avenues for retail investors to participate in his burgeoning business. This ambitious plan hinged on a merger with Rich Sparkle Holdings, a publicly traded financial printing firm. The news ignited frenzied trading activity, as day traders rushed to acquire Rich Sparkle stock following the announcement, sending its price soaring.

However, the initial enthusiasm quickly evaporated. The stock has plummeted over 90% since its January peak, fueled by a growing sense of uncertainty and confusion regarding the deal’s future. Despite weeks of speculation, no formal documentation confirming the closure of the agreement or the delivery of the promised 75 million shares to Lame’s company has emerged.

Exchange restrictions spark concerns

Now, a select group of prominent investment platforms – Interactive Brokers, ETrade, Merrill Lynch, Fidelity, Charles Schwab, and Vanguard – have implemented restrictions on trading Rich Sparkle shares. Interactive Brokers, for instance, has designated the stock as ‘non-negotiable.’ The firm cited a ‘periodic review’ of listed securities and a determination that the stock was ‘not appropriate for offering’ to its clients. Similar actions have been taken by other major brokers, including Robinhood and Webull, though trading remains permitted on those platforms.

A shadowy deal and a missing company response

A shadowy deal and a missing company response

Rich Sparkle has yet to respond to multiple requests for comment. Lame, who expressed ‘excitement’ about becoming a shareholder in Rich Sparkle in January, has conspicuously refrained from publicly addressing the deal since then. He’s even removed the company’s ticker symbol, ANPA, from his Instagram and TikTok profiles, and his team has similarly remained silent, offering no explanation through official channels. With a current market capitalization of approximately $133 million, Rich Sparkle’s future remains critically unclear.

Expert analysis: a risk for retail investors

James Angel, a professor of finance at Georgetown University and director of the FINRA program, suggests that exchanges are exercising caution, particularly with smaller-cap stocks. “Brokers feel they’re doing their clients a favor by not allowing them to buy these shares,” he stated. “It’s a logistical challenge for smaller companies to maintain an active market.”

From viral sensation to shifting narratives

Lame’s meteoric rise on TikTok, built on his effortlessly humorous videos debunking overly complicated life hacks, has positioned him within an exclusive echelon of content creators. MrBeast’s empire, valued at approximately $5 billion, represents a different scale entirely. Lame’s venture, however, aimed to offer a unique opportunity for retail investors to directly invest in the fortune of a leading individual. The deal’s announcement sparked optimism, but concerns are now mounting.

Ai avatar ambitions and diminished projections

As part of the agreement, Rich Sparkle planned to develop an AI avatar of Lame to facilitate brand partnerships and product sales on social media. Leveraging the success of digital avatars in China – where they’ve generated millions in sales – the company projected potential annual revenue of $4 billion. However, industry experts have questioned this ambitious forecast, noting that it seemed excessively optimistic. CreatorIQ, a data analytics firm specializing in influencers, estimates Lame’s earned media value (EMV) – encompassing brand mentions, media coverage, and other uncompensated publicity – at $218.9 million between 2020 and 2025.

A strategic shift and a lost vision

Lame’s former representative, Nicola Paparusso, an Italian film producer and talent manager, revealed that Lame initially sought to transition into acting in commercial cinema. “I told him, ‘You can’t be an influencer forever,’” Paparusso recalled. He stated that the partnership dissolved due to differing strategic visions and denied knowledge of the Rich Sparkle agreement. Despite recent activity on TikTok – including a collaboration with Lego and an ambassador role for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics – Lame has remained tight-lipped about the collapse of the deal.
