Meta's ai chats gain parental oversight
Meta is introducing a new parental control feature for its AI-powered chat tool, aimed at reassuring anxious parents about their teenagers' online interactions.

Parents can now monitor their kids' conversations with meta ai
The move comes as research shows that younger generations are increasingly turning to AI for advice and companionship, with some even preferring digital interactions to human ones.
Under the new system, parents will be able to review what topics their supervised minors have discussed with Meta's AI across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger platforms within the past week.
A dedicated 'Insights' page will provide summaries of the conversations, categorized by themes such as studies, entertainment, lifestyle, travel, writing, and health and wellness. Parents can drill down for more specifics within each category.
While this won't reveal the full text of the conversations, it's designed to give parents a better sense of what their children are engaging with and learning from Meta's AI.
The feature is initially available only to parents in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and Brazil, but will be rolled out to other regions in the coming weeks.
