Nvidia rushes out emergency driver after february fiasco bricks rigs

The February driver drop was a disaster. Clock speeds flat-lined, fans spun to funeral-dirge RPMs, and Halo Infinite textures looked like melted wax. Nvidia just slammed the brakes with 595.97 WHQL, a patch so urgent it skipped the usual fanfare.

What 595.97 actually fixes

First on the slab: Halo Infinite. The R595 branch had been bleeding mip-maps, turning Master Chief’s visor into a smeared windshield. The new code forces texture streaming to behave, restoring the crisp PBR sheen 343 Industries intended. Hitman World of Assassination gets its own bandage: the flickering that turned Agent 47’s chrome dome into a strobe light is gone. Smooth Motion, Nvidia’s frame-doubling trick, no longer crashes when Instant Replay is rolling—previously, enabling both was a one-click exit to desktop.

DLSS Frame Generation, the silicon star of the RTX 5000 series, also quits throwing tantrums. The old driver treated simultaneous capture as a capital offense; 595.97 commutes the sentence. Gamers who paid RTX 5090 money to record 240 fps highlight reels can finally breathe.

The bugs that survived the purge

The bugs that survived the purge

Not everyone made it out alive. In Enshrouded, chunks of Embervale terrain still vanish like bad magic tricks. Arknights: Endfield stutters every time a shader warms up, a hiccup Nvidia admits is “still under the knife.” Translation: more hot-fixes inbound, no ETA.

If you’re on an older RTX 30- or 40-series card and your library is Steam Sale backlog, you can sit this round out. But anyone rocking a 5070 Ti or above should hammer the update button now; skipping 595.97 is like leaving your GPU naked in a hailstorm.

Grab the driver straight from GeForce Experience or Nvidia’s portal. Third-party repacks are still Russian roulette with a solder-stained barrel. The company that once crowed about “unquestioned leadership” is now in full damage-control mode. Gamers aren’t cheering—they’re watching. And Jensen Huang’s apology tour is only halftime.
