Oppo poised to dominate camera tech in 2027?

Forget April Fool's jokes – Oppo is quietly laying the groundwork to potentially redefine smartphone photography in 2027. Rumors swirling around the upcoming Find X10 Pro Max suggest a camera setup so ambitious, it could leave competitors scrambling to catch up. And it’s not just about megapixels; it’s a broader commitment to innovation, evidenced by a surprising feature that could disrupt wireless charging.

A quad-camera revolution?

While Oppo has consistently pushed the boundaries of mobile imaging, the Find X10 Pro Max promises a leap unlike any seen before. According to trusted sources, the device could pack a staggering triple 200MP camera system. We're talking a 200MP main sensor (1/1.3”), a 200MP periscope lens (also 1/1.3”), and, crucially, a 200MP ultrawide lens boasting a massive 1/1.56” sensor – significantly larger than the 50MP ultrawide found in the current Find X9 Ultra. The Find X9 series already includes the Find X9, Find X9 Pro, Find X9 Ultra, and Find X9s Pro, and the addition of the Find X10 Pro Max indicates Oppo might expand to a five-model lineup – Find X10, Find X10 Pro, Find X10 Ultra, Find X10 Pro Max, and Find X10s Pro.

But the camera upgrades aren’t the only talking point. A more subtle, yet potentially game-changing, detail has emerged: built-in magnets.

Magsafe comes to android – finally

For years, Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem has offered a convenient way to attach accessories and wirelessly charge iPhones. Now, Oppo appears poised to break Android’s reliance on clunky, magnet-equipped cases. The entire Find X10 lineup is rumored to feature integrated magnets, allowing for seamless compatibility with MagSafe-style accessories. This puts Oppo significantly ahead of even Samsung, whose recently released Galaxy S26 series still clings to standard Qi2 wireless charging. Think instant wireless charging without the need for an external magnet – a massive usability upgrade.

Beyond the headline features, the base Find X10 is expected to sport a 6.59-inch 1.5K display, while the Pro model could boast a slightly larger 6.7-inch screen with the same resolution. Powering the base model will be the Dimensity 9500 Plus SoC, with the Pro and Pro Max variants potentially upgrading to the Dimensity 9600.

Of course, these are still just rumors, and Oppo hasn’t confirmed any of these specifications. However, given Oppo’s track record of delivering cutting-edge camera Technology – the Find X8 Ultra was a clear standout in 2025 – it’s reasonable to expect that the Find X10 series will continue that trend. The traditional Oppo launch window for the Ultra model is Q1 of the following year, and that’s when we anticipate seeing the Find X10 Pro Max, possibly alongside the Ultra, potentially at a slightly lower price point.

While the competition—Apple and Samsung—will undoubtedly respond with their own advancements, Oppo has, for now, drawn first blood.
