Samsung leaks the a37 and a57 early, and the cameras just got bigger
Samsung’s worst-kept secret is now in 4K. A full color palette of the upcoming Galaxy A37 and A57 surfaced overnight via serial leaker Evan Blass, confirming that the mid-range duo will land within days and that the cheaper model is quietly swallowing a flagship-sized sensor.
The a37 sneaks in a 50 mp sensor twice as large as last year
Look past the “Awesome” paint jobs—Lavender, Gray Green, Charcoal—and the A37’s rear ring is visibly fatter. Inside sits a 1/1.56-inch 50 MP imager, a slab usually reserved for Samsung’s S-line. The ultrawide and macro companions stay at 8 MP and 5 MP respectively, a reminder that progress in this bracket is still stair-step, not leap. Paired with the Exynos 1480 and 6-8 GB RAM, the package is poised to cannibalize the underwhelming S26 vanilla before that phone even ships.
The A57 plays it safer. Same 50 MP main, same 12 MP ultrawide, same 5 MP macro. The only silicon swap is the move to the Exynos 1680, a chip whose benchmarks already circulate inside Samsung’s labs at a 15 % single-core lift over its predecessor. Both siblings keep the 6.7-inch 120 Hz AMOLED, the 5 000 mAh cell and 45 W charge script unchanged—parsimony disguised as consistency.
Price freeze is the real flex
No Korean executive will say it aloud, but the spreadsheet has spoken: last year’s $399 and $499 stickers are sticking. If that holds, Samsung will sell you 80 % of a flagship for 50 % of the cash, just as the flagship S26 family struggles to define itself beyond incremental. The mid-range is no longer the consolation prize; it’s the main event.
Android 16 and six years of patches ship on day one, an update ceiling that still eludes plenty of phones north of the $800 mark. The math is brutal for Samsung’s own high end: why pay twice for a badge when the A57 gives you the same window of relevance?
