Samsung eyes fresh camera layout for galaxy phones
According to a new report, the Korean tech giant is mulling over changing the position or layout of the rear camera islands, a move that could signal a radical shift in the brand's visual identity.
If Samsung does indeed opt for a redesign, the new look is likely to first appear on the Galaxy S flagship series, potentially as early as the Galaxy S27 lineup next year. The A-series mid-range phones could follow suit afterwards.
This potential change comes after Samsung unified the design language across its Galaxy S26 lineup with the same edges and camera bump, setting a precedent for a more cohesive visual aesthetic.
While this is still just speculation, possible alternatives could include a horizontal camera island à la Google Pixel, a circular setup seen on some high-end Android devices, or even adopting Apple's large, blocky camera design seen on the iPhone 17 Pro.
Whatever Samsung chooses, it'll be a bold move away from the status quo and could set a new standard for smartphone camera design in the years to come.
