Youtube creators sue apple over ai training with stolen videos

Apple is facing a new legal challenge from three YouTube channels accusing the tech giant of illegally accessing and using millions of their copyrighted videos to train AI models.

H3h3productions, mrshortgame golf, and golfholics claim apple's actions violate the digital millennium copyright act (dmca) and are an unacceptable attack on content creators.

The channels, which have a combined 6 million subscribers, allege Apple bypassed YouTube's controlled transmission architecture and technological protection measures (MTPs) designed to restrict and monitor video access.

In a lawsuit filed in the US, the creators are seeking a court order and damages for individual and collective harm, joining other suits against Meta, Nvidia, ByteDance, and Snap.

This latest legal battle echoes a similar dispute between The New York Times and OpenAI/Microsoft last year, with the newspaper accusing the firms of illegally using millions of its copyrighted articles and research for AI development.
